Oily residue at a fitting, a cracked or kinked hose, or weak cooling can mean a line is leaking or damaged, though weak cooling has other possible causes. With the engine off, look over the hose and fittings for damage or an oil film before you decide. Pressure testing and opening the system are shop work. If this assembly is the cause, it replaces the failed one.
