This is the front upper joint, part of Dorman's RD "rugged duty" chassis line.
Severe-duty RD construction: engineered for off-road work, heavy hauling, towing and other grueling conditions, and well suited to emergency vehicles like ambulances and off-road rescue trucks.
Quenched-and-tempered steel housing: made from quenched and tempered steel instead of simple normalized steel and finished with an exclusive protective coating for a more durable, corrosion-resistant part.
Hardware included: the necessary hardware is supplied and also carries a corrosion-resistant coating.
Pre-loaded grease boot (where applicable): each joint is pre-loaded with premium grease in a specially designed grease boot with molded-in standoffs to help keep lubrication in place.
The ball joint pivots between the control arm and steering knuckle, letting the front suspension move through its travel while the wheels steer. If a worn joint is the cause, you may notice clunking over bumps, wandering steering or uneven tire wear on a Ram 1500 ball joint or other listed application—diagnose the cause before replacing. Replacing both sides together helps keep front-end wear even.
