Positioned on the low-pressure side of the A/C system, the accumulator / filter drier removes moisture and contaminants from the refrigerant and stores excess liquid before it reaches the compressor. Contaminants like this cannot be cleared by flushing, so replacing the accumulator when the system is serviced is essential.
