• Core A/C function: Draws in low-pressure refrigerant vapor and pressurizes it, circulating it through the condenser, expansion device and evaporator to move heat out of the cabin air.
• Belt-driven: Runs off the engine accessory belt to circulate refrigerant when the air conditioning system calls for cooling.
• Signs the original compressor may need replacing: Warm or weak vent air, noise or rattle from the compressor, or refrigerant that isn't circulating properly.
