The camshaft position sensor reads where the camshaft is in its rotation and sends that signal to the vehicle's Electrical Control Unit (ECU). The ECU uses this signal to help time fuel injection and ignition. Hitachi builds this sensor to send accurate readings to the ECU for an efficiently running system.

Signs that a camshaft position sensor may need replacing include a check engine light, hard starting, stalling or rough running.
