KYB Suspension Shock Absorber P/N:KG5548
Firm up your Dodge Ram's front suspension with the KYB Gas-a-just High Pressure Monotube Gas Shock Absorber (KG5786). It's a direct-fit front shock for the 2006-2008 Dodge Ram 1500, 2003-2009 Dodge Ram 2500, and 2003-2009 Dodge Ram 3500 — see the Buyer's Guide tab for engine-level detail.
Unlike a traditional twin-tube design, the Gas-a-just monotube runs two separate working chambers: an air-free hydraulic piston and valve area for responsiveness and control, plus a high-pressure nitrogen gas area with a floating piston for a comfortable ride during normal driving and added performance on demand.
The higher gas pressure is designed to improve steering response and helps keep Electronic Safety Systems performing as the vehicle manufacturer intended. Sold individually; replace both sides as a matched pair for balanced ride and handling.

Which vehicles does the KYB KG5786 shock fit?
It's a front shock for the 2006-2008 Dodge Ram 1500, 2003-2009 Dodge Ram 2500, and 2003-2009 Dodge Ram 3500. Check the Buyer's Guide tab to confirm your configuration.
Is this a monotube or twin-tube shock?
It's a high-pressure monotube (Gas-a-just) design that separates the gas and oil in two working chambers for fade-free operation and instant response, unlike a traditional twin-tube shock.
How much more damping does it provide?
KYB states the Gas-a-just adds up to 25% more damping than original equipment shocks, with components and valving designed specifically for Dodge trucks.
Does one listing cover the whole axle?
No. This shock is sold individually. For balanced ride and handling, it's best to replace both sides on the axle as a matched pair.
What does the triple chrome-plated piston rod do?
The ultra-smooth triple chrome-plated rod is designed to reduce seal wear. Since fluid leaking can cause shock failure, that smoother surface helps protect the seal.
