The inner tie rod end connects the steering gear to the outer tie rod and carries steering input out to the wheels. Signs it may need replacing include loose or wandering steering, excess play in the steering wheel, a clunk when turning, and uneven tire wear. Other steering and suspension parts can cause the same symptoms, so diagnose the cause before replacing. A wheel alignment is recommended after installation.
