Standard Ignition Back Up Light Switch P/N:LS-263
Help your back-up lamps come on when you shift into reverse with this Standard Ignition switch, the LS-223 Back-Up Light Switch. It fits many vehicles, among them the 1975-1979 Chevrolet LUV, 1972-1974 Chevrolet LUV Pickup and 1977-1979 Buick Opel. See the Buyer's Guide tab for the full list and engine details.
A back-up light switch closes the circuit to the reverse lamps when the vehicle is placed in reverse. The lamps signal to other drivers and pedestrians that you are backing up, and they light the area behind the vehicle.
Signs this part may need replacing include back-up lights that stay dark in reverse, flicker, or stay on after you shift out of reverse. A blown bulb, a fuse or damaged wiring can cause the same symptoms, so diagnose the circuit before you replace the switch.
What does a back-up light switch do?
It closes the circuit to the back-up (reverse) lamps when the vehicle is shifted into reverse. The lamps then light to signal that you are reversing and to illuminate the area behind the vehicle.
What are signs the LS-223 switch may need replacing?
Back-up lights that won't come on in reverse, that flicker, or that stay on can be signs of a failed switch. Bulbs, fuses and wiring can cause the same symptoms, so diagnose the circuit first.
Is this the right Opel switch for a 1977-1979 Buick Opel?
Yes. The Standard Ignition LS-223 is listed for the 1977-1979 Buick Opel. See the Buyer's Guide tab for every vehicle it fits and engine details.
Is this back-up light switch tested before it ships?
Yes. Standard Ignition tests 100% of its parts to verify both mechanical and electrical switching performance.
What are the switch's conductors made of?
The switch uses copper alloy conductors. Standard Ignition specifies them for strong electrical conductivity with low resistive losses.
