Whether it is going into a 2005-2006 Cadillac STS, a 2004-2006 Cadillac SRX or a 2004-2006 Cadillac XLR, the Standard Ignition Engine Crankshaft Position Sensor PC503 gives the engine computer the crankshaft position signal it uses to time spark and fuel injection. It is a direct-fit replacement for the listed applications, all with the V8-4.6L engine.
- Function: Reads crankshaft position and rotational speed and sends that signal to the engine control module.

The engine computer depends on the crankshaft position signal to know when to fire each cylinder and when to open the injectors. When the sensor or its signal fails, the engine may be affected in several ways.
Signs this part may need replacing: a crank-no-start, stalling, intermittent misfires or rough running, and an illuminated check engine light. These symptoms can have other causes, so diagnose the system before replacing parts. If a failed crankshaft position sensor is the cause, PC503 replaces it.
