Standard Ignition Neutral Safety Switch P/N:NS-96
Help keep the starter from engaging unless the shifter is in Park or Neutral with this Standard Ignition switch, the NS-198 Neutral Safety Switch. It is a direct-fit replacement for many vehicles, among them the 1996-1999 Toyota Corolla, 1996 Toyota RAV4 and 1998-1999 Chevrolet Prizm. See the Buyer's Guide tab for the full list and engine details.
The neutral safety switch completes the starting circuit only when the shifter is in Park or Neutral, so the engine is allowed to crank only in those positions. If a worn switch is behind a no-crank or intermittent-start condition, the NS-198 replaces it.
