Standard Ignition Starter Drive P/N:SDN-13
Send the starter motor's turning force to the flywheel of your classic car or truck with the Standard Ignition Starter Drive SDN-73, the component that connects the starter to the engine each time you turn the key. It is a direct-fit replacement for many vehicles, including the 1968-1972 GMC C15/C1500 Pickup (L6-4.1L, L6-4.8L), 1950-1952 Buick Roadmaster (L8-5.2L) and 1949-1953 Cadillac Series 62 (V8-5.4L).
A starter drive carries the pinion gear that meshes with the flywheel ring gear while the engine cranks, then releases once the engine fires. If a worn drive is the cause of grinding at start-up, or of a starter that spins without turning the engine over, this part replaces it.
SDN-73 fits many vehicles across makes including Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet and GMC, with engines such as L8-4.1L, L8-5.2L, V8-5.4L, V8-5.7L, L6-3.8L and H6-2.4L. See the Buyer's Guide tab for the full list of years, models and engines.

This part cross-references / interchanges with the following part numbers:
What does a starter drive do?
The starter drive carries the pinion gear that engages the flywheel ring gear when you turn the key. It passes the starter motor's rotation to the engine during cranking, then disengages once the engine starts.
What are signs a starter drive may need replacing?
Signs include a grinding noise during cranking, or a starter that spins or whirs without turning the engine over. Other starting-system faults can cause similar symptoms, so diagnose the cause first.
How many starter drives does my vehicle need?
The listed applications use one starter drive, and SDN-73 is sold individually.
Will the Standard SDN-73 fit my vehicle?
SDN-73 fits many classic Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet and GMC models with engines such as L8-5.2L and V8-5.4L. See the Buyer's Guide tab for your exact year, model and engine.
What part numbers does SDN-73 interchange with?
Standard SDN-73 cross-references to SD212, 1862058 and 1873789.
