Standard Ignition Power Steering Pressure Switch P/N:PSS51
Help your engine's idle keep pace with power steering demand with the TRUE-TECH SMP T Series Power Steering Pressure Switch, part number PSS4T. It fits many Ford, Lincoln, Mazda and Mercury models, among them the 1991-2002 Ford Explorer, 1987-1998 Ford F-150 and 1987-2003 Ford Mustang.
A power steering pressure switch monitors hydraulic pressure in the power steering system. When steering load rises, as it does during low-speed turns and parking maneuvers, the switch signals the engine control system so the idle can be adjusted for the added pump load.
Signs this part may need replacing: The idle may dip or the engine may stall when you turn the steering wheel at low speed, or power steering fluid may seep from the switch. Other faults can cause the same symptoms, so diagnose first. If a failed pressure switch is the cause, PSS4T replaces it.
