Keep automatic transmission fluid sealed inside the back of the case with the Timken Automatic Transmission Extension Housing Seal 330663. This seal seats in the rear of the transmission extension (tail) housing, where the output shaft passes through to the driveshaft. It drops in as a direct-fit replacement for a long list of classic Mopar applications, including the 1956-1961 Chrysler Imperial, New Yorker, Newport and Town & Country, the 1957-1959 Dodge Coronet, and the 1957-1960 Plymouth Belvedere, Fury and Savoy.
The seal body stays stationary in the housing bore while its sealing lip rides against the rotating output shaft, helping contain fluid and block dirt and moisture from entering the tailshaft area.
- Extension housing seal: seals the point where the output shaft exits the rear of the automatic transmission.
- Stationary lip seal: the body remains fixed; the lip contacts the turning shaft to retain transmission fluid.
- Direct-fit: designed for the listed classic Chrysler, Dodge and Plymouth applications.
Signs this seal may need replacing: transmission fluid drips near the rear of the transmission or the front of the driveshaft, a wet or oily tailshaft, or a slow drop in fluid level. If a worn extension housing seal is the cause, this replaces it.
