Dorman - First Stop Drum Brake Wheel Cylinder P/N:W37499
Put hydraulic pressure to work at the rear drum brakes with the Dorman First Stop drum brake wheel cylinder W79768, engineered as a direct match for the original wheel cylinder. It fits many vehicles, among them the 1988-2000 GMC C3500, the 1988-2000 GMC K3500 and the 1991-2002 Chevrolet C3500HD, as a direct-fit replacement for the listed applications. See the Buyer's Guide tab for the full list and engine details.
When you press the brake pedal, the wheel cylinder's pistons and pressure cups push the brake shoes outward against the drum. If a leaking or sticking wheel cylinder is causing a soft pedal or fluid inside the drum, this unit replaces it. It installs in either the rear left or the rear right position.
Replacing both rear wheel cylinders together is recommended for even, balanced braking.

What does a drum brake wheel cylinder do?
It uses hydraulic pressure from the master cylinder to push the brake shoes outward against the drum. The Dorman First Stop W79768 mounts at the rear drum brakes of the listed applications.
Does the Dorman W79768 fit a 1988-2000 GMC C3500?
Yes. It is a direct-fit replacement for the 1988-2000 GMC C3500, the 1988-2000 GMC K3500 and the 1991-2002 Chevrolet C3500HD. Check the Buyer's Guide tab to confirm your vehicle.
What are the signs that a wheel cylinder may need replacing?
Signs include brake fluid inside the drum or on the backing plate, a soft or low brake pedal, or wet, contaminated shoes. Diagnose the cause before you replace any parts.
What are the cups and boots made of?
Dorman uses high-quality EPDM rubber for the cups and boots. The cylinder bores are surface-tested for an optimum sealing surface for the pressure cups.
