In a drum brake, the wheel cylinder uses hydraulic pressure to push its pistons outward against the brake shoes; over time the rubber cups and boots wear and can allow fluid to seep. If a worn or leaking wheel cylinder is the cause, this kit reseals the cylinder rather than replacing the whole unit.
