A heater core is a small, radiator-like exchanger: hot engine coolant flows through its tubes while the HVAC blower pushes cabin air across the fins to warm the interior and aid defrost. This heater core replaces a leaking or clogged original. Signs the core may need replacing include a sweet coolant odor in the cab, fogged glass, weak or no heat, or coolant dampness on the floor.
