Firm up rear-end control with the KYB Gas-a-just Shock Absorber KG5743, a high-pressure monotube gas shock that installs as a direct-fit rear replacement for the 2001-2006 Mitsubishi Montero. This KYB shock absorber uses a monotube design with components and valving developed specifically for the Montero, so it drops into the factory rear location without modification.

High-pressure monotube design: separates the gas and oil into two working chambers — an air-free hydraulic piston and valve area for responsiveness, plus a high-pressure nitrogen gas chamber with a floating piston — for fade-free operation and instant response, so it never experiences fade due to aeration.

Up to 25% more damping: the Gas-a-just adds up to 25% more damping performance over original-equipment shocks, with extra damping over the OE design for vehicles that work, tow, and run larger, heavier tires and wheels.

Triple chrome-plated rod: an ultra-smooth triple chrome-plated piston rod helps reduce seal wear, since fluid leaking can be a cause of shock failure. The higher gas pressure is designed to improve steering response and helps keep Electronic Safety Systems performing as intended.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does this KYB gas shock absorber fit my vehicle?

It is a direct-fit rear replacement for the 2001-2006 Mitsubishi Montero. See the Buyer's Guide tab to confirm the exact application for your vehicle.

What is the difference between the Gas-a-just and a twin-tube shock?

The Gas-a-just is a high-pressure monotube that separates the gas and oil into two chambers for fade-free operation and instant response, rather than the traditional twin-tube design.

How much more damping does this KYB shock absorber provide?

KYB rates the Gas-a-just to add up to 25% more damping performance over original-equipment shocks, with extra damping for vehicles that work, tow, or run larger, heavier tires and wheels.

Why does this Gas-a-just shock have a chrome-plated piston rod?

Fluid leaking can be a cause of shock failure, so the Gas-a-just uses an ultra-smooth triple chrome-plated piston rod to help reduce seal wear.

Should I replace both rear shocks at once?

Shocks are sold individually; this listing is for one. Replacing both rear shocks together as a matched pair is recommended for balanced ride and handling.
