Firm up the ride and control body motion with the KYB Gas-a-just Shock Absorber KG5781, a high-pressure monotube gas shock that installs in the front position on the 2004-2012 Chevrolet Colorado and 2004-2012 GMC Canyon, plus the 2006 Isuzu i-350 and 2007 Isuzu i-370. This KYB shock absorber uses a monotube gas design with components and valving developed specifically for the Colorado and Canyon.

Unlike a traditional twin-tube, the Gas-a-just separates the gas and oil into two working chambers — an air-free hydraulic piston and valve area for responsiveness and control, and a high-pressure nitrogen chamber with a floating piston — so it resists fade from aeration and reacts instantly on demand.

  • High-pressure monotube: separates gas and oil for fade-free operation and instant response.
  • Added damping: adds up to 25% more damping over original-equipment shocks, with extra damping for vehicles that work, tow, or run larger, heavier tires and wheels.
  • Triple chrome-plated piston rod: an ultra-smooth rod that reduces seal wear, since fluid leaking can be a cause of shock failure.
  • Higher gas pressure: designed to respond quickly to improve steering response and help keep Electronic Safety Systems performing as designed.

To reduce the chance of noise and vibration, KYB recommends installing new strut mounts, part number SM5413.

Frequently Asked Questions

What vehicles does the KYB KG5781 shock absorber fit?

It fits the front position on the 2004-2012 Chevrolet Colorado, 2004-2012 GMC Canyon, 2006 Isuzu i-350, and 2007 Isuzu i-370. See the Buyer's Guide tab to confirm your vehicle.

What makes this KYB gas shock absorber a monotube design?

The Gas-a-just uses two separate chambers — an air-free hydraulic piston/valve area and a high-pressure nitrogen chamber with a floating piston — which separates gas and oil for fade-free operation and instant response.

How much more damping does the KYB Gas-a-just provide?

KYB states it adds up to 25% more damping over original-equipment shocks, with additional damping for vehicles that work, tow, or run larger, heavier tires and wheels.

Do I need to replace the strut mounts too?

To reduce the chance of noise and vibration, KYB recommends installing new strut mounts, part number SM5413.

What are common signs a shock absorber may need replacing?

Excessive bouncing, poor ride control, uneven tire wear, or fluid leaking from the shock may indicate replacement. Diagnose the cause before replacing.
