Firm up ride control and cut fade with the KYB Gas-a-just Suspension Shock Absorber KG5781, a high-pressure monotube gas shock that installs as a direct-fit FRONT replacement for the 2004-2012 Chevrolet Colorado, 2004-2012 GMC Canyon, 2006 Isuzu I-350 and 2007 Isuzu I-370. Its components and valving were designed specifically for the Colorado and Canyon.

Unlike a traditional twin-tube design, this monotube separates the gas and oil into two working chambers — an air-free hydraulic piston and valve area for responsiveness and control, plus a high-pressure nitrogen gas area with a floating piston for a comfortable ride during normal driving and added performance on demand.

  • Fade-free operation: the high-pressure monotube keeps gas and oil separated for consistent damping and instant response.
  • Extra damping: adds up to 25% more damping performance over original-equipment shocks, with additional damping for vehicles that work, tow, and run larger, heavier tires and wheels.
  • Improved steering response: higher gas pressure responds quickly, and the triple chrome-plated piston rod reduces seal wear.
  • Safety systems: helps keep Electronic Safety Systems performing as designed. KYB recommends installing new strut mounts (part number SM5413) to reduce the chance of noise and vibration.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which vehicles does the KYB KG5781 fit?

It is a FRONT-position fit for the 2004-2012 Chevrolet Colorado, 2004-2012 GMC Canyon, 2006 Isuzu I-350 and 2007 Isuzu I-370. See the Buyer's Guide tab to confirm your vehicle.

What is a monotube gas shock?

It uses a single tube with separate chambers for oil and high-pressure nitrogen gas, keeping the two apart for fade-free operation and instant damping response versus a twin-tube design.

How does the Gas-a-just improve steering response?

Its higher gas pressure responds quickly to help improve steering response, and the triple chrome-plated piston rod runs smoothly to reduce seal wear.

Should I replace shocks in pairs?

Replacing shocks as an axle pair is recommended for balanced, even ride control. This listing is for one shock; order the quantity your vehicle requires.

Do I need new strut mounts?

To reduce the chance of noise and vibration, KYB recommends installing new strut mounts, part number SM5413, when replacing the shock.
