MSD Distributor P/N:85824
Upgrade your LT1 ignition with the MSD IGNITION distributor, part number 83811. This Pro-Billet™ GM LT-1 unit is built as a performance replacement for the factory Optispark and comes with its cap, rotor and installation components. It fits many vehicles, among them the 1995-1996 Chevrolet Impala, 1995-1997 Chevrolet Camaro and 1995-1996 Chevrolet Caprice with the V8-5.7L engine. See the Buyer's Guide tab for the full list.
MSD machines the housing from an entire billet block of aluminum so it fits in place of the factory piece. It then fills the housing with a new pick-up assembly and a timing adjustment mechanism, and tops it with an all-new MSD distributor cap. The pick-up is an optical encoder, a different style of optical pickup than the OEM unit. The rotor bolts to a drive assembly that is indexed to the shaft.
The distributor is fresh-air vented and sealed to help keep the elements out. It also has an improved housing design, an extra bolt and an extra-thick mounting surface for the cap, all intended to prevent leaks. It is supplied with MSD's heavy-duty LT1 cap, the rotor and the components required for installation. The distributor type is HEI/breakerless, and the listed applications use one distributor. Country of origin: United States.
