Keep high-voltage spark flowing to the right cylinder at the right moment with the Standard Distributor Cap DR-451. It is a direct-fit replacement for many vehicles, among them the 1980-1981 Chevrolet Citation, 1980-1981 Jeep CJ5 and 1980-1981 Jeep CJ7. See the "Vehicles it fits" section for the full list and engine details.

The distributor cap takes voltage from the ignition coil through the rotor and sends it to each spark plug wire terminal in firing order. Standard is a global manufacturer of original equipment ignition products and maintains complete quality control throughout manufacturing, from componentry to the finished product.

    • Cap body: made of high dielectric strength, glass/mineral reinforced polyester resin for less carbon tracking and greater resistance to electrical breakdown.
    • RFI resistors: used where specified, to help suppress radio static and potential ECU-damaging spikes.
    • Terminals: solid brass where available, for better connections and greater resistance to electrical pitting and corrosion.
    • Development: draws on decades of Standard research and development in distributor caps and rotors.

Signs a distributor cap may need replacing: cracks, carbon tracks or corroded terminals found on inspection, along with misfires, rough running or hard starting. These symptoms can have other causes, so diagnose the ignition system first. If the cap is at fault, DR-451 replaces it.

    Frequently Asked Questions

What does a distributor cap do?

It receives high voltage from the ignition coil through the rotor and routes it to each spark plug wire terminal in firing order.

Which vehicles does the Standard DR-451 fit?

Listed applications include the 1980-1981 Chevrolet Citation, 1980-1981 Jeep CJ5 and 1980-1981 Jeep CJ7. See the "Vehicles it fits" section for the many other vehicles it fits and engine details.

What is the DR-451 cap made of?

It is made of high dielectric strength, glass/mineral reinforced polyester resin, which Standard specifies for less carbon tracking and greater resistance to electrical breakdown.

What signs suggest the distributor cap may need replacing?

Look for cracks, carbon tracking or corroded terminals, along with misfires, rough running or hard starting. These can have other causes, so diagnose the ignition system before replacing the cap.

Which part numbers does DR-451 interchange with?

    It cross-references 19106941, J8131935, C195, 8131935, DR116, DR912, RR197, 1893686, 1974409, 1986629, RR197SB and DR451T.
