A distributor cap covers the distributor. It carries the ignition coil's high-voltage output through the rotor to each spark plug wire terminal. As a cap ages, it can crack, build up carbon tracks, or develop worn or corroded terminals, which may contribute to misfires, rough running, or hard starting. If a worn cap is the cause, this unit replaces it.
