Standard Ignition Distributor Rotor P/N:JR-84
Standard Ignition Distributor Rotor P/N:JR-84

Keep spark reaching every cylinder with the Standard Ignition Distributor Rotor (MPN JR-84). Mounted on top of the distributor shaft, this rotor spins to route high-voltage current from the ignition coil to each terminal in the distributor cap, feeding the spark plugs in firing order. It's a direct-fit replacement for a wide range of 1978–1989 imports and Chrysler-family vehicles, including the Dodge Colt, Caravan and D50, Plymouth Colt and Reliant, Chrysler LeBaron and Conquest, Mazda 626 and B2000, Mitsubishi Starion, Ford Courier and Nissan Micra.

  • High dielectric-strength polymer: engineered to resist breakdown and arcing for long life.
  • Solid brass segment: resists pitting and erosion for extended service.
  • Ready to install: includes a mounting screw with lock washer.
  • Quality-controlled build: produced under complete quality control from componentry to finished product.

A worn or corroded rotor tip can cause weak spark, misfires, or hard starting. If a failed rotor is the cause of these symptoms, this replaces it — always diagnose the ignition system first. Fits engines from L4-1.2L up to L4-2.6L across the listed applications.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does this distributor rotor do?

It mounts on the distributor shaft and rotates to route high-voltage current from the ignition coil to each terminal in the distributor cap, distributing spark to the plugs in firing order.

Does it come with mounting hardware?

Yes. The JR-84 includes a mounting screw with a lock washer for installation.

What is the rotor made of?

It uses a high dielectric-strength engineering polymer to resist breakdown and arcing, with a solid brass segment that resists pitting and erosion.

Will this fit my vehicle?

It fits 46 applications spanning 1978-1989, including Dodge Colt, Caravan and D50, Plymouth Reliant, Chrysler LeBaron, Mazda 626 and Mitsubishi Starion. Check the Buyer's Guide tab for the full list.

Could a bad rotor cause a misfire?

A worn or corroded rotor can contribute to weak spark, misfires or hard starting. If the rotor is the cause, this replaces it, but diagnose the ignition system first.
