Help absorb moisture in your air conditioning system with the Four Seasons Filter Drier Desiccant Bag Kit w/ Plug, part number 83401, also listed as an A/C receiver drier / desiccant element. It fits many vehicles, among them the 2018-2024 Chevrolet Equinox, 2018-2024 GMC Terrain and 2016-2025 Buick Envision, as a direct-fit replacement for the listed applications. See the Buyer's Guide tab for the full list and engine details.
The filter drier works as a filter, removing moisture and contaminants from the air conditioning system. A desiccant bag absorbs the moisture. Flushing cannot remove these contaminants, so Four Seasons considers replacing the drier essential.
- Kit contents: A desiccant bag kit for the filter drier, supplied with a plug.
- Why timing matters: A leaking or open system can saturate the desiccant bag within a few hours, which leaves the drier ineffective.
- Service and warranty: Four Seasons states that drier replacement is required to validate compressor warranty and must be done anytime the system is serviced.
- A/C specialist: Four Seasons has more than 50 years of mobile A/C experience.
Signs this part may need replacing include an A/C system that is being serviced or repaired, a leak that left the system open, or weaker cooling when moisture in the system is the cause. Diagnose the system first, then service it to the vehicle's specifications.
