Oily residue around the hose fittings, a rubbed or damaged hose, or weak cooling can mean the discharge hose is leaking. A leak elsewhere in the A/C system looks much the same, so look over the hose and its fittings with the engine off before you replace it, and leave pressure testing to a shop.
