ACCEL Spark Plug Wire Set P/N:9011C
Designed to upgrade an OE ignition system for high-spark delivery on street-driven vehicles, the ACCEL spark plug wire set 4040K comes from the SuperStock 4000 series. This universal-fit, black 8mm set is listed for the 1975-1996 Ford F-150 [V8-5.0L], the 1982-1995 Ford Mustang [V8-5.0L], the 1970-1974 American Motors Javelin [V8-5.9L] and many more. See the Buyer's Guide tab for the full list of applications.
Each wire starts with high dielectric strength EPDM (ethylene propylene diene monomer) inner insulation. A tightly woven, rugged fiberglass braid is applied over the insulation, and a 450°F-rated silicone jacket is extruded on top. This construction is built for ignition wire performance that exceeds SAE specifications.
ACCEL plug wires carry the high-voltage spark from the ignition system to each spark plug. Signs that the wires may need replacing include cracked or hardened insulation, visible arcing, misfires or a rough idle. Plugs, coils and other ignition parts can cause the same symptoms, so diagnose the cause before replacing the wires. Resistance and boot temperature rating are both listed as meeting or exceeding OE. The listed applications use one set per vehicle. Country of origin: Vietnam.
What core does the 4040K wire set use?
The 4040K set uses a carbon graphite core in an 8mm wire diameter. It has RFI suppression intended for street-driven applications.
What is the jacket temperature rating?
The high-gloss silicone jacket is rated to 450°F. It is extruded over a tightly woven fiberglass braid and high dielectric strength EPDM inner insulation.
Will ACCEL wires work with HEI ignition?
ACCEL lists its SuperStock 4000 series for both pre-HEI and post-HEI vehicles. Check the Buyer's Guide tab for the applications listed for the 4040K.
What boots and terminals does the 4040K set have?
The set has straight silicone boots and stainless steel plug terminals, with a black 8mm silicone-jacketed wire.
How do I know if my spark plug wires need replacing?
Possible signs include cracked or hardened insulation, arcing, misfires or a rough idle. Other ignition parts can cause the same symptoms, so diagnose the cause before replacing the wires.
