The air charge temperature sensor measures the temperature of the air entering the engine and reports it to the PCM, which uses that signal when calculating fuel delivery and spark timing. If a failed temperature sensor is the cause of rough running, hard starts, or a temperature-circuit check-engine code, this replaces it — diagnose the circuit first, since these symptoms can have other causes.
