Grinding, squealing or a brake pedal that feels different can mean the pads are worn, but rotors, calipers and sticking hardware can cause similar signs. Before replacing anything, look at the rotor faces for grooves or rust ridges with the engine off and cool, and have the pad thickness measured as part of a brake service. The front axle takes one set.
