This switch threads into the cooling circuit and senses coolant temperature, opening and closing the electrical circuit to command the cooling fan on and off as the engine warms and cools. If a failed switch is the cause of a fan that never engages, runs constantly, or won't cycle with temperature, this replaces that switch.
