The seal body stays stationary in its bore while its lip rides against the rotating input shaft, helping retain transmission fluid and block outside dirt and water. Fluid seepage at the front of the transmission is a common sign this seal may need replacing. If a worn input shaft seal is the cause of your leak, this replaces it.
