The bellows boot seals the left end of the rack and pinion steering assembly, keeping dirt, water, and debris away from the inner tie rod and rack teeth while helping retain the lubricating grease inside. A torn or cracked boot lets contaminants in and accelerates wear — if a failed left bellows is the cause of grease leakage or contamination, this kit replaces it. Have the steering inspected to confirm the cause before replacing.
