CARDONE Reman Transfer Case Motor P/N:48-304
CARDONE Reman Transfer Case Motor P/N:48-304
$198.99

Built to handle electronic four-wheel-drive range shifts, the A1 CARDONE transfer case motor 48-304 is a remanufactured, direct-fit replacement for the 2004-2009 Dodge Durango and 2007-2009 Chrysler Aspen with all engines. It mounts to the transfer case and drives its shift mechanism when the 4WD system calls for a range change.

CARDONE reverse-engineers each design to learn how and why the original unit failed. That lets its engineers identify and correct original design weaknesses, with the goal of O.E.-level performance or better.

  • Torque tested: every motor is 100% torque tested to verify strength for proper gear engagement.
  • Computer tested: each unit is 100% computer tested at three points during remanufacturing.
  • Refreshed internals: motor magnets are 100% recharged, and the sensors are replaced with new, O.E.-quality sensors.
  • Measured lubrication: each motor is assembled with a precise amount of lubricant, intended for quiet operation.

The motor connects through one female rectangular connector with five male blade terminals and uses four mounting holes. The box holds the motor and an instruction sheet. Mounting hardware and a wiring harness are not included. The listed applications use one motor. Country of origin: Mexico.

Signs the motor may need replacing include 4WD that will not engage or disengage and a Service 4WD warning light. A control-module calibration issue or the front axle lock actuator can cause similar symptoms, so diagnose the cause before replacing.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does this motor fit the 2005 Durango transfer case?

Yes. The 48-304 is listed for the 2004-2009 Dodge Durango, which includes 2005, and for the 2007-2009 Chrysler Aspen, all engines. Check the Buyer's Guide tab to confirm your vehicle.

What position is the replacement motor's drive set in?

It is factory-set in the two-wheel-drive position. Manually shift the transfer case into two-wheel drive at the shift shaft before installing. The positions are typically spring-loaded, and a crescent wrench can be used.

Can I test the motor before it is installed?

No. Do not operate the motor while it is off the transfer case. Doing so can damage the motor and set an error code that must be cleared before it will operate again.

Why is the Service 4WD light on or the 4WD inoperative?

This may be caused by a transfer case control module calibration issue. Check for DTCs and the calibration version, since there may be a software update from the original equipment manufacturer.

What comes in the box?

The box contains the remanufactured transfer case motor and an instruction sheet. Mounting hardware and a wiring harness are not included.
