Carlson Disc Brake Caliper Piston P/N:7041
Transfer hydraulic pressure into front-brake clamping force with the Carlson Disc Brake Caliper Piston (P/N 7846). It's a direct-fit front caliper piston for a wide range of GM vehicles, including the 2000-2005 Chevrolet Impala, 1997-2005 Buick Century, 1997-2005 Cadillac DeVille, 1997-2008 Pontiac Grand Prix and many more — see the Buyer's Guide tab for the full list of covered applications.
Inside the front caliper, this piston is the part that hydraulic brake fluid pushes against: as you press the pedal, fluid pressure drives the piston out of its bore to clamp the brake pad against the rotor. If a corroded, seized, or leaking original piston is behind a dragging, sticking, or uneven front brake, this replaces it.
Manufacturer part number 7846.
Diagnose the cause of any brake concern before replacing, and inspect the caliper bore, seals, and hardware during service.
What does this caliper piston do?
It sits in the front brake caliper bore. When you press the pedal, hydraulic fluid pushes the piston outward, clamping the brake pad against the rotor.
Which position is this for?
It is a front disc brake caliper piston for the listed applications.
How many do I need?
The listed applications use two per vehicle. Order the quantity your repair requires.
Will this fit my vehicle?
It fits a range of GM models such as the Chevrolet Impala, Buick Century, Cadillac DeVille and Pontiac Grand Prix. Check the Buyer's Guide tab for the full list.
Can this fix a sticking or dragging front brake?
If a corroded, seized, or leaking original piston is the cause, replacing it can help. Diagnose the caliper, seals, and hardware first, as other parts may be involved.
