Cloyes Engine Timing Chain P/N:C387
Cloyes C493 timing chain for the 1975-1979 Ford F-150 V8 7.5L and other vehicles synchronizes crankshaft and camshaft rotation. This engine timing chain is a stand-alone chain that keeps the valves opening in step with the pistons.
A worn or stretched chain can show up as a rattle from the front of the engine, uneven running or a timing-related warning light. Before you replace the chain, rule out other sources of those signs, such as a tired tensioner or guide, and plan to renew those wear parts in the same service.
This timing chain is made for a wide range of Ford, Buick, Edsel, Lincoln and Mercury models, including the 1973-1979 Ford F-250 V8 7.5L. As a Mustang timing chain, it fits the 1969-1971 Ford Mustang V8 7.0L, and each vehicle takes one.
