The center high mount stop light comes on with the main brake lamps whenever the brake pedal is pressed. It adds a centered stop signal mounted higher than the other rear lamps. Signs the assembly may need replacing include a cracked or faded lens, moisture inside the housing, or a third brake light that stays dark while the other brake lamps work. A dark light can also come from wiring or connector trouble, so diagnose the cause first. If the light assembly itself has failed, the Dorman 923-070 replaces it.
