If the release handle pulls but the hood stays latched, a worn or broken cable may be the cause, and the Dorman hood release cable 912-773 is built to replace it. This hood release cable assembly is a direct-fit replacement for the 2015-2025 Ford F-150 and is made to match the original cable on that truck.
The hood release cable connects the release handle inside the cab to the hood latch. When you pull the handle, the cable carries that pull to the latch and releases it. Over time a cable can stretch, fray or snap, and then the handle can no longer work the latch.
