What does an A/C accumulator do?
It acts as a filter, removing moisture and contaminants from the air conditioning system using a desiccant bag. These contaminants cannot be removed by flushing, so replacing the accumulator is essential.
Which vehicles does the 83280 fit?
It's a direct-fit replacement for the 1998-2004 Audi A6 / A6 Quattro, 2007-2008 Audi RS4, 2003-2004 Audi RS6 / RS6 Avant, and 2000 Volkswagen Passat. See the Buyer's Guide tab for full details.
Are gaskets and seals included?
Yes. For easy installation, the necessary gaskets, o-rings and seal are included with this accumulator / filter drier.
When should I replace the accumulator?
It must be replaced any time the A/C system is opened for service. A leaking or open system can saturate the desiccant bag within a few hours, making the unit ineffective.
Does replacing it affect the compressor warranty?
Yes. Replacement of the accumulator / filter drier is required to validate compressor warranty and should be done whenever the system is serviced.
