Four Seasons A/C Accumulator with Hose Assembly,A/C Refrigerant Suction Hose P/N:55556
Four Seasons 55634 A/C refrigerant hose for the 1986 Ford Mustang 4-cylinder 2.3L and other vehicles is an accumulator with hose for the suction side of the A/C system. The accumulator filters moisture and contaminants out of the system.
A leaking or open system can saturate the desiccant bag within a few hours, which leaves the accumulator ineffective. Weak cooling alone does not prove this hose is the problem, since a low refrigerant charge is another common reason.
The 1983-1987 Ford Thunderbird and the 1982-1987 Mercury Cougar fit this A/C refrigerant hose, as do many other vehicles; each of those two takes one.

This hose is for R134A systems. It has a male springlock outlet, with 5/8 in inlet and outlet fittings.
What happens when the desiccant bag in this accumulator is saturated?
A leaking or open system can saturate the bag within a few hours. The accumulator is then ineffective at removing moisture from the system.
Do I have to replace the accumulator whenever the A/C system is serviced?
Yes. The accumulator is replaced any time the A/C system is serviced, and replacing it is required to validate a Four Seasons compressor warranty.
