Keep your A/C metering refrigerant accurately with the Four Seasons A/C Expansion Valve 38663, a TXV (thermostatic expansion valve) that regulates the flow of high-pressure liquid refrigerant into the evaporator based on superheat. It drops in for the 1991-1995 Mazda 323, 1993-1997 Mazda 626, 1992-1993 Mazda MX-3, 1993-1997 Mazda MX-6, and 1990-1994 Mazda Protege (All engines).

This is an externally equalized design, using an external equalizer line to sense evaporator-outlet pressure for more accurate control. Backed by Four Seasons' mobile A/C experience, it's engineered and tested for long-lasting performance.

  • Valve type: TXV, externally equalized, calibrated to a superheat setting of 8.0.
  • Refrigerant: R134A.
  • Construction: Brass/copper design, double soldered for joint integrity.
  • Included seals: Application-specific O-rings, gaskets, and seals are supplied. Mounting hardware is not included.

Engineered to meet or exceed O.E. fit, form, and function requirements for the listed applications. Manufacturer part number 38663.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does this expansion valve do?

It's a thermostatic expansion valve (TXV) that meters high-pressure liquid refrigerant into the evaporator, regulating flow based on superheat to control cabin cooling.

What refrigerant is this valve calibrated for?

The facts list Refrigerant Type R134A, with a superheat setting of 8.0.

Does it come with seals or mounting hardware?

Application-specific O-rings, gaskets, and seals are included. Mounting hardware is not included.

Which vehicles does part 38663 fit?

The 1991-1995 Mazda 323, 1993-1997 Mazda 626, 1992-1993 Mazda MX-3, 1993-1997 Mazda MX-6, and 1990-1994 Mazda Protege (All engines). Check the Buyer's Guide tab to confirm your vehicle.

What are signs the expansion valve may need replacing?

Poor or inconsistent cooling, frosting, or erratic evaporator temperatures can be signs. Diagnose the cause first; if a failed expansion valve is confirmed, this replaces it.
