The filter drier acts as a filter, removing moisture and contaminants that cannot be cleared by flushing the air conditioning system. A leaking or open system can saturate the desiccant bag within hours, so this component must be replaced anytime the system is serviced. Four Seasons notes that replacing it is also required to validate the compressor warranty.
What does this receiver/filter drier do?
It acts as a filter, removing moisture and contaminants from the A/C system using a desiccant bag. These contaminants cannot be removed by flushing, so replacing the drier is essential.
Does it come with installation hardware?
Yes. The necessary gaskets, o-rings and seal are included to make installation easier.
When should the filter drier be replaced?
Four Seasons advises replacing it any time the A/C system is opened or serviced. A leaking or open system can saturate the desiccant bag within a few hours.
