Dorman - OE Solutions Hood Release Cable P/N:912-049
When a stretched or snapped cable leaves the hood latched shut, the Dorman hood release cable, part number 912-039, is built to replace the worn-out or broken original. It is a direct-fit replacement for the 2004-2008 Ford F-150, the 2004-2008 Ford Lobo and the 2006-2008 Lincoln Mark LT.
This assembly comes with its own release handle. The cable connects that handle to the hood latch, so pulling the handle draws the cable and releases the latch. If a failed cable or handle is why your hood won't open, this Dorman hood cable replaces both.
See the "Vehicles it fits" section for the full fitment chart.

Is this a 2004-2008 Ford F-150 hood release cable?
Yes. It is a direct-fit replacement for the 2004-2008 Ford F-150. Check the "Vehicles it fits" section to confirm it fits your exact vehicle.
What does a hood release cable do?
It links the release handle in the cab to the hood latch. Pulling the handle draws the cable, which releases the latch so the hood can be raised.
Does the 912-039 come with a handle?
Yes. Dorman describes the 912-039 as a hood release cable with handle, so the handle is part of the assembly.
What are signs the hood release cable may need replacing?
Common signs are a handle that pulls with little or no resistance, a hood that won't pop, or a broken handle. A stuck latch can cause similar symptoms, so diagnose the cause first.
How is the hood release cable installed?
The new cable replaces the original between the handle and the latch. Follow the vehicle service information for removal, routing and adjustment.
