Description

Control is the whole point with the KYB shock absorber, part number 553385 — a rear, high-pressure monotube gas shock offered as an OE monotube replacement to help restore your vehicle's original capabilities. This KYB gas shock absorber drops in as a direct-fit replacement for the 2001-2009 Volvo S60, 1999-2006 Volvo S80, and 2001-2007 Volvo V70; see the Buyer's Guide tab for engine-level fitment.

Gas-a-just monotube design: Two separate working chambers — an air-free hydraulic piston and valve area for responsiveness and control, plus a high-pressure nitrogen gas area with a floating piston for a comfortable ride during normal driving and added performance on demand.
Quicker steering response: The higher gas pressure responds quickly to improve steering response, and helps keep Electronic Safety Systems performing as designed.
Built for Volvos: Components and valving designed specifically for Volvos, adding up to 25% more damping performance over original equipment shocks for vehicles that work, tow, and run larger, heavier tires and wheels.
Fade-free operation: The high-pressure monotube separates the gas and oil for fade-free operation and instant response, with an ultra-smooth triple-chrome-plated piston rod to reduce seal wear.
