KYB Suspension Shock Absorber P/N:SR2007
Add extra damping to the rear suspension with the KYB Gas-a-just KG4162, a high-pressure monotube KYB shock absorber built with more damping than the original equipment design. It fits many vehicles, among them the 2002-2009 Chevrolet Trailblazer, 2002-2009 GMC Envoy and 2003-2006 Chevrolet SSR. See the Buyer's Guide tab for the full list.
Unlike a traditional twin-tube shock, this KYB gas shock absorber uses two separate working chambers. An air-free hydraulic piston and valve area provides responsiveness and control. A second high-pressure nitrogen gas area with a floating piston supports a comfortable ride in normal driving and is designed to add instant performance on demand. KYB designed its components and valving specifically for GM SUVs.
Electronic safety systems rely on the suspension, brakes and tires working as the vehicle maker intended. The Gas-a-just is designed to help keep those systems performing as designed.

Is the KG4162 a KYB rear shock absorber?
Yes. The KG4162 is cataloged for the rear position on its listed applications.
Does the KG4162 fit the 2002-2009 Chevrolet Trailblazer and GMC Envoy?
Yes. It is listed for the 2002-2009 Chevrolet Trailblazer and the 2002-2009 GMC Envoy, as well as the 2003-2006 Chevrolet SSR. The Buyer's Guide tab has the full application list.
How does a monotube shock differ from a twin-tube shock?
The KG4162's high-pressure monotube design keeps the gas and the oil in separate chambers, divided by a floating piston. This gives fade-free operation and quick response.
Why does this shock have more damping than the original?
KYB adds up to 25% more damping than original equipment shocks. The extra damping is aimed at vehicles that work, tow, or carry larger, heavier tires and wheels.
What are signs a shock absorber may need replacing?
Common signs include excessive bouncing after bumps, fluid leaking from the shock body, rear squat under acceleration, and uneven tire wear. Inspect the suspension to confirm the cause before replacing.
