Unlike a traditional twin-tube, this monotube design uses two separate working chambers — an air-free hydraulic piston and valve area plus a high-pressure nitrogen gas area with a floating piston — so it resists fade from aeration and responds on demand.

• High-pressure monotube: separates the gas and oil for fade-free operation and quick response.
• Extra damping: the manufacturer states it adds up to 25% more damping performance over original-equipment shocks, with valving designed for vehicles that work, tow, and run larger, heavier tires and wheels.
• Triple chrome-plated piston rod: an ultra-smooth rod helps reduce seal wear, since leaking fluid can be a cause of shock failure.

Higher gas pressure is designed to help improve steering response, and KYB notes the Gas-a-Just helps keep electronic safety systems performing as the vehicle manufacturer intended. Sold individually — replace both front shocks together as a matched pair for balanced ride and handling.
