Dial in your own ride control with the KYB AGX Suspension Strut 741028, a rear, damping-rate-adjustable strut that drops in as a direct-fit replacement for the 1990-1996 Nissan 300ZX. This manually adjustable AGX lets you design your own performance without special tools — quickly and as often as you like — and can add up to 125% more damping force than the vehicle's OEM design on the 300ZX.

  • Externally adjustable: tune damping without lifting the vehicle or removing the tires; depending on application the AGX uses an eight-position knob or a four-position screwdriver slot, and one adjustment increases both rebound and compression damping.
  • Velocity-sensitive valving: precision multi-stage hydraulic valves react to driving conditions to help maintain tire contact and vehicle control, on the street or the track.
  • Built to last: a seamless working cylinder matched with a Teflon-coated piston band provides a positive seal and longer life.
  • Safety-system ready: engineered to help vehicles with electronic safety systems (ESC, ABS, etc.).

To reduce the chance of noise and vibration, KYB recommends installing new strut mounts (part number SM5154), and you can protect the struts from dirt, debris and salt with a KYB Strut Boot (part number SB108).

Frequently Asked Questions

What vehicle does the KYB 741028 strut fit?

It is a direct-fit rear suspension strut for the 1990-1996 Nissan 300ZX. Check the Buyer's Guide tab to confirm the correct application for your vehicle.

How much can I adjust the damping?

On the 300ZX the AGX can be set to add up to 125% more damping force than the OEM design. One adjustment increases both rebound and compression damping.

Do I need tools or to lift the car to adjust it?

No. The AGX is externally adjustable without lifting the vehicle or removing the tires, using either an eight-position knob or a four-position screwdriver slot depending on application.

Does this work with ESC and ABS systems?

Yes. The AGX is engineered to help vehicles equipped with electronic safety systems such as ESC and ABS.

Should I replace the strut mounts too?
