Keep your 1983-1997 Ford Ranger pitman arm doing its job — carrying the steering gearbox's output to the steering linkage so your front wheels turn where you point them — with the Mevotech Supreme Steering Pitman Arm MS40967. This front steering component installs as a direct-fit replacement for the 1983-1997 Ford Ranger (see the "Vehicles it fits" section for engine-level details).
The steering pitman arm bolts to the gearbox sector shaft and links to the center/drag link, converting the box's rotation into the side-to-side motion that steers the truck. When it develops play, steering can feel loose or vague.
Inspect and replace worn steering and suspension components as a set for the best result, and torque all fasteners to the vehicle's service specifications.
