This pivoting joint connects the lower control arm to the steering knuckle, letting the suspension articulate while locating the wheel. A worn front lower ball joint often shows up as clunking over the road, loose or wandering steering, and uneven tire wear — if a failed joint is the cause, this replaces it and helps restore handling.
