Keep your engine's temperature signal accurate with the Motorad Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor / Engine Cylinder Head Temperature Sensor 1TS1222. It installs as a direct-fit replacement in the front, right position on a wide range of vehicles, including the 1991-1992 Alfa Romeo 164, 1987-1995 BMW 325i, 1997-2001 Cadillac Catera, 1991-1996 Ford Escort and many more — see the "Vehicles it fits" section for the full list of 180 applications.
This part is listed under both names — Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor and Engine Cylinder Head Temperature Sensor — so it may appear either way in a catalog.
- Reads engine temperature: senses the temperature of the coolant / cylinder head and sends the signal the ECU and temperature gauge rely on.
- Front, right location: cataloged for the front, right sensor position.
- Direct-fit replacement: designed to install on the listed applications.
- Supports engine management: an accurate reading helps the ECU manage fuel delivery and cooling-fan operation.
Signs the original may need replacing include erratic temperature-gauge readings, a stored temperature-related trouble code, or hard cold starts — diagnose the cause first, and if a failed sensor is to blame, this replaces it. Manufacturer part number 1TS1222.

Frequently Asked Questions
What does the Motorad 1TS1222 do?
It senses engine coolant / cylinder head temperature and sends that signal to the ECU and temperature gauge, which use it to manage fuel delivery, cooling-fan operation, and the dash reading.
Is this a front or rear sensor?
It is cataloged for the front, right sensor position on the listed applications.
Why does it have two names?
It is listed as both an Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor and an Engine Cylinder Head Temperature Sensor, so it may appear under either name in a catalog.
What are signs this sensor may need replacing?
Erratic or inaccurate temperature-gauge readings, a stored temperature-related trouble code, or hard cold starts can point to a sensor issue. Diagnose the cause first; if the sensor is at fault, this replaces it.
