The shifter cable links the gear selector inside the cabin to the shift lever on the transmission, carrying each gear selection from the lever to the transmission. When the cable stretches, frays or breaks, the selector and the transmission can fall out of step.

- Polymer outer housing: Shields the inner cable from corrosion and abrasion.
- Hardware where applicable: Pioneer cables often come with common brackets, grommets and ends when the application calls for them. Compare the new cable with your original before installing it.
Signs this part may need replacing: the gear indicator doesn't match the selected gear, the shift lever feels loose or sloppy, the lever is hard to move into or out of Park, or the shifter moves without changing gears. Worn linkage, bushings or selector parts can cause similar symptoms, so diagnose the cause before replacing the cable. If a failed shifter cable is the cause, CA-1291 replaces it.
