What is the ACCEL 8198?
It's an 8-pack of ACCEL U-Groove Shorty header spark plugs (MPN 8198) with a copper core center electrode, projected tip, resistor, tapered seat, 14mm thread and .460 in. reach.
Why is it called a "Shorty" plug?
The overall length is reduced about 3/16 in. to 3/8 in. versus an OE-style plug to add air gap between the plug boot and the exhaust manifold or header tube, helping prevent burned boots and dimpled header tubes.
What is the spark plug gap?
These plugs are gapable and set at a 0.035 in. gap. You can open the gap for a larger flame kernel or close it for high-boost applications; always confirm the correct gap for your engine.
What is the benefit of the copper core?
Copper is a strong conductor and dissipates heat well, which helps deliver a strong spark and lessens the chance of a misfire, especially in high-performance applications where high combustion pressures are present.
Will these fit my vehicle?
The 8198 is listed for 270 applications across Audi, Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, Dodge, Ford, GMC and more. Check the Buyer's Guide tab for your exact year, make, model and engine before ordering.
