The seal body stays stationary while its lip rides on the rotating shaft at the rear of the transmission. Signs this part may need replacing include lubricant dripping from the rear of the transmission, an oily film around the seal area, or a fluid level that keeps dropping. If a worn rear seal is the source of the leak, this seal replaces it. Diagnose the cause before replacing any parts.
